Like all proud families, we love to recognize the accomplishments of our people. Recently, four of our therapists earned a rather prestigious certification. Rebecca Chou (MPT), Anna Bowling (OTR/L), Grace Brooks (OTD, OTR/L), and Alicia McGuire (DPT) are now Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialists (CSRS)!
This ground-breaking program from the National Stroke Association is the nation’s only stroke certification program for physical and occupational therapists. It involves a rigorous series of four courses culminating in a comprehensive certification exam. Each specialist is also required to obtain continuing Stroke-specific education and renew the certification every two years.
According to Rebecca, who serves as our Hillandale Therapy Manager, this is a great benefit for all the residents at Chesterwood Village, Doverwood Village, and Birchwood Care Center.
Two years ago we built the Advanced Therapy Center at Chesterwood Village. The ATC is a technologically advanced therapy facility featuring some of the most specialized equipment available. However, creating the Tri-State’s most advanced therapy center was only the beginning when it came to stroke rehab.
Since opening the ATC, we’ve worked to make it a specialized area where in-depth knowledge, training and skill offer the very best treatment outcomes for our patients. That’s why we are so excited to now include stroke rehab-certified physical and occupational therapists to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services.
